Our family

We are Armando and Lola, and these are our children: Helena, Natalia and Armando. We enjoy hiking, watching and listening to the songbirds, telling stories, gathering mushrooms in the fall, being with the animals, discovering new flowers every spring, enjoying the smells, riding our bicycles, preparing meals together, swimming in the pool and naptime in the summer, playing and laughing, watching the rain in the winter, seeding and harvesting the garden.

We live in the country and we take care of everything that surrounds us, this is why we practice organic agriculture and a natural and healthy diet is very important to us. We produce high quality products from our pigs: hams, paletas (shoulder), lomo (tenderloin) and dried sausages.

An organic family farm

Finca Montefrío is an organic family farm, our everyday work is the breeding and raising of pure race Iberian 'Bellota' pigs in the dehesa, in balance and with respect to the natural resources that our environment has to offer. We have four rural houses that are independent, very comfortable and calm. We contribute to a form of sustainable tourism that is full of emotions. Two of the houses are adapted for guests with reduced mobility.

* The dehesa is the ideal environment for the Iberian pig. It is a pasture where a large number of trees grow (often a mix of green and cork oaks)

** The bellota is the Spanish word for acorn. The Iberian bellota pigs are fattened exclusively on acorns and grass during the 4 months preceding their slaughter.
